Red, White or Port?
For the most part, I've always been a red wine drinker. In my college days, I drank what was readily available, usually white. But I quickly realized that I am a RED drinker (preferably Cab) with an occasional Port. Most white wines go straight to my head causing serious inebriation in short period of time. On the other hand, I can sip a good bottle of red wine in a sitting without much distortion. Of course, I don't make a habit of this except when writing.
I'm curious...what's your type? Red, White or Port ....and why?

I perfer very bold reds. Bold cabs with a lot of flavors, yum
I was in Napa in February, and stumbled on a fabulous cab... Oakville 2004 cabrabet sarvignon.. good with many tastes (olives, brie, sharp cheddar, chocolate, bread, etc.) I had a wonderful time celebrating my partner's brithday and it was a HIT!

Betty,
Yes...how can I forget Oakville! What a lovely surprise it was. I'm still reeling from from the wonderful, robust flavors! And of course it was a special time, celebrating my birthday, our marriage and Valentine's together!

Now that I've attended my first wine tasting event, I've come to realize that I really like ports, but mostly to go with dinner, which is usually the only time I get to sit down and drink wine. Something about the flavor reminds me of a marinade from a steak I had once. It was the best steak I ever had. I get a grand feeling of nostalgia every time I take a sip. So far the best port I've had was the 2005 liquid love from Mitchell Katz in Livermore. The taste seemed more refined than the others I tasted. I look forward to my next event to compare and expand my pallet
